J. Gabriel Stone holds a Master of Music Education from the University of South Carolina, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Certificate in Tuba Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory. Born in Limestone, Maine, he attended Newport News schools, and graduated from Menchville High School. He has taught Elementary band in Winchester (VA), Middle and High School band in Newport News (VA), and served as a band graduate assistant in South Carolina, where he also taught several undergraduate music history courses. Mr. Stone also gives lectures in world music and organology throughout the east cost.
For six years he performed with the Celtic/folk band Coyote Run, where he recorded 5 CD's and toured the US, Canada, Ireland, and Scotland. He is an eighteenth century balladeer for Colonial Williamsburg, and is a frequent guest artist for Celtic, Folk, and Early Music performances and recordings.
Mr. Stone lives in Yorktown with his wife Beth (band director at Grafton Middle School), cat Pierre, bird Tacet, and way too many guppies.
